Discovering 2014: Bowtie Clippie

Discovering 2014 is a personal goal to complete a daily project throughout the year!

Today's project was a Bowtie Clippie. I actually intended it to be more like a wrapped hard candy, but my husband said "bowties are cool" when I showed him it, so obviously both him and the 11th Doctor must be correct! The bowtie has a roll of 3/8" pink ribbon with pink pipe cleaners folded into triangles on either end.

Today's project was a Turkey Ribbon Sculpture, inspired by this pin of a former Etsy listing. This was one of those projects that took much longer than you would think... it took me over an hour!

The turkey uses brown, yellow, orange and red 3/8" grosgrain ribbon, which are looped, stitched and glued together. For the face he sports a pair of googly eyes, an orange grosgrain beak and a red grosgrain gizzard.

Discovering 2014: Santa Hat Clippie

Discovering 2014 is a personal goal to complete a daily project throughout the year!

Today's project was a Santa Hat Clippie. Some of the projects I picked for this month would have been a bit more appropriate in December, but I guess this gives lots of time to perfect them!

The hat used 1.5" red grosgrain, folded and glued into a triangular shape. Then you use 3/8" white grosgrain to wrap the bottom. Finally, make a roll of 3/8" white grosgrain for the top, and optionally fold an extra bit of white over it to cover the open gap up top.

Discovering 2014: Ghost Clippie

Today's project was a Ghost Clippie. For this you need 2" wide white ribbon,  then trim it to have a curved top and jagged bottom. Use a heat sealer or fray check to keep the ribbon from fraying, add some googly eyes and a tiny bow, then attach it to your hair clip.

Discovering 2014: Bouquet Ribbon Sculpture

Discovering 2014 is a personal goal to complete a daily project throughout the year!

Today's project was a Bouquet Ribbon Sculpture. It was supposed to be ice cream, but it came out looking more like a bouquet of flowers instead, so that's what I'm calling it!

Take a 2" white ribbon and make a cone shape, then glue a few bunched up 7/8", 5/8" and/or 3/8" ribbons inside. Attach it to your covered hair clip and enjoy!
